Throughout the two year course we have as many guest lecturers as possible come into class to provide an insight into working in the Health and Social Care sector. This provides vital skills and knowledge required for the subject and career information for those students who may wish to pursue a career in the field.
We also try to visit local Health and Social Care providers which the students really enjoy. In previous years we attended Leicester College taster sessions and Rawlins Community College for an interactive session with specialist equipment to support the aged. We are hoping to develop a link with a local care home to enable students to get further insight into care needs.
We have welcomed numerous visitors into lessons including pharmacists, care workers, A Macmillan cancer unit nurse and also people who delivered apprenticeship talks.
